The INVESS Project promised life eternal - inside the internet. But that was 10 years ago. And, now, five Bathurst teenagers have been sucked into the net, into INVESS.
Welcome to the upcoming theatre production of 17 Things that the Government Doesn’t Want you to Know About the Internet.
Theatregoers will discover the world the teenagers have fallen into is full of mad memes, warped websites and harassing hashtags.
This contemporary production is a slap-stick, musical whirl through cyberspace with original songs and plenty of pop culture references.
The company includes a band “Siri” who will help the audience out with explanations of some of the language being used.
It is wonderful that students from all of the local secondary schools are taking part in the show.
- Local Stages creative producer Kylie Shead
The show has been created by an ensemble of 13-16 year olds from Bathurst.
“We are thrilled with the work these kids are doing, and it is wonderful that students from all of the local secondary schools are taking part in the show,” Local Stages creative producer Kylie Shead said.
“We have students from Bathurst and Kelso High schools, Mackillop College, Scots College, St Stanislaus’ College and All Saints’ College.
“They have become a great team. All working together to write and develop the script, write songs and work on the design of the show.”
Tickets to the the one-off show on April 13 are now on sale through the Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre.
