A 34-YEAR-OLD man will face a Sydney court today charged with sexually assaulting a a young relative in the Bathurst area.

Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse Squad commenced an investigation in April 2016 after receiving a report that a 13-year-old girl had been sexually and indecently assaulted in the Bathurst area by a relative between 2012 and 2013.
Following an extensive investigation, a 34-year-old man was arrested at a business in Mountt Druitt about 1.10pm on Wednesday.
He was taken to Mount Druitt Police Station and charged with aggravated sexual assault of a person under 16 years and indecent assault of a person under 16.
The man was refused bail to appear at Mount Druitt Local Court today.
The Child Abuse Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate crimes against children, including sexual assault, physical abuse and serious cases of neglect.
