The early morning coffee session, held at The Hub, was an overwhelming success, and gave people the chance to meet with police, and talk about issues in an informal, neutral space.
Crime Prevention Officer, Sen Const Sue Rose, said there was a slot of positive feedback from the day, with people happy to discuss policing issues relevant to them.
Roz Townsend, was one of over 40 people who called into the event said it was a terrific way for people to engage with police.
“I found the police I spoke with were very receptive to what I raised,” she said.
Ms Townsend said she wanted to talk about traffic issues in town including people turning right out of the IGA carpark, and trucks going through red lights at the Durham Street and Stewart Street intersection.
Acting Local Area Commander, Supt Peter McKenna, said the event was an outstanding success.
“The fact the community have turned out in numbers and sat down with police to raise issues I think is fantastic.”
Supt McKenna said events like Coffee with a Cop are a great way for people in the community to realise police, are also members of the community, who live here and care about what happen.
He said it was particularly heartening to hear the number of people thanking him for the work the police do here in Bathurst.
“To hear this drives home how important the job we do is,” he said.
