The team, who have made it to the final eight of the competition for the first time, will travel to the border of New South Wales and Victoria, to face Albury High School at Alexandra Oval.
Kelso will be looking to become the first Alan Davidson Shield champions from regional NSW since Tamworth’s Oxley High School in 2008.
Kelso captain Mark Day said his teammates have played pretty well, but still yet to play their best cricket.
“Our bowling could be a lot better. We haven’t all fired,” he said.
“Someone has had to step up on the day and if we all play well, we have a good chance.
“Myself and Connor [Slattery] need good starts. If we can score some good, early runs, it’ll help us go a long way.”
Day said it is an amazing experience to make the final eight of the competition and that the game against Albury will be a good trip away.
David Amaral, who is now in his second year coaching the school’s cricket side, has played a key part in Kelso’s success.
He said that he’s extremely proud of the team’s performance.
“They get along really well and they have a lot of fun. It’s all about mateship, for them,” he said.
“It would be amazing to beat Albury, but we’re one of the top eight teams in the state and it’s the first time we’ve got this far.
“It’s something to be proud of, win or lose.
“The boys just need to keep a level head.”
Kelso, who left for Albury on Monday morning, tested themselves on the pitch that afternoon.
Amaral said they would have to assess the conditions on game day to decide on their tactics.
“It would be lovely to roll them, but I realise that’s a bit unrealistic,” he said.
“But it should be a good game of cricket, either way.”
If Kelso do defeat Albury, they will join three other teams for the two semi-finals matches in Bathurst.
The semi-finals are expected to be played in March.
