Previously Bathurst Regional Council had printed thousands of copies of the program that featured more than 100 autumn events across the region.
But when this year’s program was launched at the Bathurst Visitor Information Centre last Friday, it was announced the entire brochure would only be available online.
The move has angered seniors groups, in particular, who say many elderly people do not have access to a computer in their home and are not comfortable navigating the internet.
The decision also drew negative comments on the Western Advocate Facebook page with one reader writing that “not everything has to be about the almighty dollar”.
The Autumn Colours program runs from March 1 until May 31.
