Community members had been invited along for a free afternoon tea to help celebrate Shrove Tuesday, commonly known as Pancake Tuesday.
Co-ordinator behind the cathedral’s celebration was Tania Harvey who said parishioners had cooked pikelets, rather than pancakes.
“We used to have a midday meal, but this is the first time we’ve started doing an afternoon tea,” she said.
Ms Harvey said the blackberry, strawberry and apricot jams on the pikelets were all made by parishioners.
In many parts of the world, the Shrove Tuesday tradition was borne out of households cooking pancakes the day before Lent begins.
