The relay route, unveiled on Monday, shows the baton will pass through Forbes, Parkes, Orange, Wellington and Dubbo on January 29 and 30 but will not come to Bathurst.
The baton relay will begin at Buckingham House on March 13 and continue for more than a year before arriving on the Gold Coast for the Opening Ceremony on April 4, 2018.
The baton will carry a personal message from Queen Elizabeth II which will be read on the Gold Coast by the Queen, or her representative, to signal the beginning of the Games.
The Gold Coast baton was made from re-claimed plastic collected from Gold Coast beaches and waterways, macadamia wood, engraved stainless steel and also uses LED lights.
Its colours - including hot pink - change as the baton is passed between people.
