AN UNBEATEN century partnership from young St Pat’s Old Boys duo Ben Parsons (102 not out) and Ben Mitchell (64 not out) has knocked the wind of Centennials Bulls’ sail at the tail end of the Bathurst District Cricket Association regular season.

While the amazing recent form from the Saints has come too late to earn them a finals spot, the ‘Ben show’ at Morse Park 1 on Saturday has given them a memorable conclusion.
In the final over before Pat’s declared on 309 runs – well clear of the 138 set the previous week by the Bulls – Parsons and Mitchell smashed opposing captain Josh Toole for 33 runs.
“There’s a lot of positives for us to take away from our last two games, especially with them being wins against [finals-bound] Colts and Bulls,” Pat’s opener Jeremy Russell said.
“We missed finals but everyone’s walked away happy from this game. The boys put on a great show for us at the end of our innings.”
Bulls came back out for their second innings, aiming to avoid an outright loss, and did so by finishing at 5-119. Toole top scored with 63.
Pat’s had an outright victory in sight but a strong opening session with the bat from the Bulls brought that idea to a stop.
“They opened the batting with Lisa Griffith and Josh Toole and they just shut up shop for an hour to see out their opening session for not much at all,” Russell said.
“Once we broke that opening partnership the wickets started to fall but it was a little too late.”
The victory takes the Saints off the bottom of the table.
