Relay For Life came to an end on Sunday morning, at All Saints’ College, after many participants spent the night walking around Watson Oval and some spent the night camping out.
Cancer Council Western NSW community relations coordinator Katherine Hodges said it was an amazing effort.
“We couldn’t be any more happier,” she said.
“The community has come to together to support this. It’s really inspirational.
“Some people have been here all night, tagging in and out with other people in their team.
“We had 603 participants, which is the most ever.”
Ms Hodges said the night was filled with plenty of activities.
“Miss Relay was won by Jono Hosking, who dressed up as ‘Betty Botox’. He won with an amazing final ensemble,” she said.
“We had lots of food – hot dogs, pancakes, steak sandwiches.
“There were plenty of games – chocolate tossing, jelling bean guessing competitions.”
A hope ceremony was held on Saturday evening, which played a remembrance wheel of people who have died from cancer or still fighting the disease.
Ms Hodges said many heads were shaved, including Wes and Karen Nixon’s of the Bobby’s Bandits and Emily Froude’s and Shiloh Williams’ of the Tobias The Fighter team.
Nic Fitzpatrick from Moubar Vintage shaved his beard for $500.
Ken Barcham raised the most money, individually, with $5,003.
Participants were treated to a healthy breakfast on Sunday morning.
