While the Bathurst and District Relay For Life website indicates roughly $75,000 has been raised, Cancer Council representatives believe the total could rise further and hit the target of $90,000 when all money is banked.

The council said it would be appropriate to give a preliminary estimate of $85,000 and wait for a final tally when all money is finalised, within the coming weeks.
With $12,291 raised, The Daffy’s, a team made up from people from the Daffodil Cottage, amassed more money than any of the other 41 registered teams.
Ken and Jocelyn Barcham, both who are members of The Daffy’s raised $8557 between the two of the them.
Mr Barcham, who raised the most money ($5003) among all of the participants, said he that being affected by cancer personally, was a motivating factor.
“My son Nathan died from leukemia nine years ago, this year,” he said.
“One of my friends from school, Tim Payne, from the Air Road Foundation, gave $4000. He gives to many worthy causes.
“The Bathurst community is really generous and they always commit so much money to worthy causes.
“If someone has got a problem, the community digs deep and gets behinds it.”
While Mr Barcham’s total was achieved from several donors, Ms Barcham’s came from over 40 different people in her $3554 total.
“It’s made up of many donors and they’re not just from Bathurst, but from friends family,” she said.
“It’s an extremely emotional time and if we can save one person and their family from the pain, it’s worth it.”
Dedicated To Fitness raised the second most money as a team, with $7125.
The team, which accounted for its target of $5000, was made up of almost 30 people.

Fight Like A Girl managed to raise $6712, while Saints An Sinners, a team made up 62 people, raised $6206.
T-Rex Rupert was the fifth best team, in terms of money raised, with $4636.
Relay For Life is an annual event, held in towns and cities right across Australia, that helps raise money for cancer research.
It also provides a chance to recognise and celebrate with those who have overcome the disease and reflect on those who have died.
