Medals in lead up to Championships

THE recent AKF Sydney Cup delivered three medals for the contenders representing Warren Hickey’s Precision Martial Arts.

Taylor Hickey won gold in the open women’s sparring division, Felicity Hickey won a silver medal in the 16/17 years girls sparring and Harrison Papworth placed third in the 12/13 years boys sparring.

Also representing Bathurst were Kiara Blattman, who competed in the 12/13 years kata, and Jaiden Gunning, who competed in the 12/13 years sparring and kata. 

More than 250 competitors travelled from across the state to compete in the events at Liverpool.

The AKF is the group that will select competitors to compete in karate competitions at the next Olympic games.

All the Bathurst competitors will look forward to competing in the NSW State AKF Championships this Saturday.
