His two-year-old filly Our Chateau Lafite ($5) held off her rivals in the opening 1,730 metres heat of the Gold Tiara and in doing so, qualified for next Saturday’s Group 1 final.
She won by a half head over Redbank Addi ($19.70), with a nose back to Fiore Stride ($5) in third.
“She might not be the best one here, but she’s an improving type,” Jack said.
The win was the second of her five-start career and came in a 1:58.9 mile rate.
In qualifying for the Gold Tiara final, Jack has the chance to add another chapter to his family’s history at the Gold Crown Carnival.
His father Russell won the 2004 Gold Crown with Albert Terrill and has twice tasted success in the Gold Tiara – in 1992 with Sheza Lobell and 1995 aboard Yeronga Songbird.
