Jono Dean seeks a first grade crown with Weston Creek-Molonglo

JONO Dean will go down as one of the leading batsmen in the Cricket ACT men’s premier cricket first grade competition this season, but there is another title that he desperately wants.

This weekend he is hoping to join his Weston Creek-Molonglo team-mates in being crowned the Douglas Cup champions.

Creek face Tuggeranong in a three-day grand final, which commenced on Friday. It is game Dean will give his all to win.

"I have lost a few grand finals, but you've got to be in it to win it and what's the old saying? You've got to lose one to win one,” Dean said.

"There are a few guys there at Creek who have lost grand finals, so there's a burning desire there.”

Dean belted an unbeaten ton to help Creek into their eighth consecutive grand final and shapes as a potential match winner once more. It is something rival skipper Shane Devoy is aware of.

“Jono’s a fantastic player and he’s shown that over a long period of time,” he said.
