Principal Ken Barwick drew an enthusiastic crowd to see him get his legs waxed by Karla McDiarmid, while teacher Nathan Kenny lost his well-known beard and various students lost their hair.
The event was organised by the Bathurst High leadership team to raise awareness about blood cancer and to show support for Year 10 student Scott Osborne, who is in Westmead Hospital undergoing treatment for leukaemia, and other students whose family members are being affected by cancer.
“We have a lot of students at the school who know someone or have a family member suffering from cancer,” school vice-captain Sam Neary said.
He said plenty of work had gone into Friday’s event in the school gymnasium.
A total of $3000 had been raised for the cause by Friday afternoon and more money was coming in.
