“Who Listens To The Radio” was a hit song for the Aussie group The Sports in the 70’s and in response to that question, it appears almost everybody is listening, in their cars at least according to a recent survey.

The Edison Research survey in America about radio listening habits has shown that radio in cars remains extremely strong. Around 81 per cent of those surveyed stated they regularly listen to AM/FM radio in their cars each week for news and entertainment, while just over 50% on average listen to CDs and there is an increasing amount of listeners who use their car radio for listening to digital music sources.
This follows a similar report last year in Australia that radio listening in motor vehicles remains the number one choice with motorists over other forms on in-car entertainment. Radio allows you to listen to your favourite program and stay informed about what is happening in the world or locally. New music, retro favourites and companionship are other reasons that drivers enjoy having the radio cranked up.
The Laundromat
Have you caught the Wednesday evening program ‘The Laundromat’ from 7pm to 9pm, hosted by Greg Fahey. The program puts a new ‘spin’ on some great music particularly from the 60’s through to the 80’s era from blues and jazz to rock and world music, featuring tracks from many well know artists that may have not got the airplay they deserved at the time.
‘The Laundromat’ aims to play songs that helped shape the music scene not just of that era but also through to today with alternative tracks, ‘B’ sides, live recordings and more. Join Greg each Wednesday evening from 7 o’clock.
