A new series mirroring the four tennis majors – the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open – has begun a the club, with each occurring roughly the same time as the real event for the sport’s elite is staged overseas.
The Australian Open portion of the series was held recently with Grace Schumacher victorious in the open singles category. Brian Reiri claimed the runner-up finish.
Allyson Schumacher and Josh Dorman defeated Schumacher and Jeorge Collins in the battle for the open doubles crown.
Phil Church won the A grade singles title over Sarah Tree. Church and Tree paired up to win the doubles category over Stacy Markwick and Frank Buckley.

Meanwhile, Eglinton’s juniors have made a superb start to the Junior Development Series (JDS).
Maddie Honeyman is leading the way in the 10 years girls thanks to two competition victories.
Mark Sheather, in the 10 years boys, sits inside the top three for his age group and is the other junior with a tournament success to his name.
The 14 years boys duo of Bailey Honeyman (fourth) and Sebastian Honeyman (sixth) aren’t far off the pace after several finals appearances.
Eleven-year-old Collins is sitting fourth in the 16 years boys, boasting a runner-up tournament result.
