The Easter school holiday program at the gallery will include Waste 2 Art workshops. Over the last few years, BRAG has partnered with Bathurst Regional Council (BRC) to deliver recycling-based workshops in celebration of the Waste 2 Art Community Art Exhibition Competition. These holidays, BRAG will be delivering three recycling-based workshops.
The theme for the 2017 Waste 2 Art program is ‘plastic bags’, however, artworks can be made from any recyclable materials. For further information about Waste 2 Art, visit www.bathurst.nsw.gov.au.
Our first workshop, Soft Plastic Creations, is scheduled for Tuesday, April 11 from 10.30am to 12.30pm. Fiona will lead the workshop and explore how we can turn waste plastic bags into funky fashion accessories via soft plastic weaving techniques. It’s for six to 17-year-olds.
The next workshop, Crazy Chandeliers, is also centred on plastic. We have collected lots of plastic bottles and containers which are ready to be turned into some amazing designs. It’s for seven to 17 years and is on Wednesday, April 12 from 1.30pm until 3.30pm.
Our third workshop, Origami Wall Art, is in the second week of the holidays on Tuesday, April 18 from 10.30am until 12.30pm for ages eight to 17.
The last Waste 2 Art inspired workshop is Plastic Sculptures with Fiona on Wednesday, April 19 from 1.30pm until 3.30pm. This workshop will test your ideas on what an empty bottle can become. It’s for ages seven to 17 years.
Our finally workshop is String Art with Emma. It’s for eight to 17 years and is on April 20 from 1.30pm until 3.30pm.
Workshops are $10 per child. Bookings are essential at the gallery desk or over the phone. Visit http://bit.ly/BRAGSchoolHolidayPrograms.
This weekend is the last opportunity to catch our current exhibitions; Hill End Table: Food, Fire, Art, Lloyd Rees: In the Regions and A Prize Collection: Studio Ceramics from the Carillon City Festival and Bathurst Art Prizes 1972-1998.
We will be closed next week, but will reopen at 5pm on Friday, March 31 for a curator’s floor talk for the Beyond Belief: the sublime in contemporary art exhibition. The official opening will follow at 6pm.
Remember, entry to the gallery is free. Visit www.bathurstart.com.au, visit our Facebook page or call 02 6333 6555.
