The group recently participated in the Orange Half Marathon, and along with competing raised much needed funds and awareness for headspace.
Peter Cawthorne, one of the runners, said the group was ecstatic with the result.
“We are more then happy; we held a trivia night and had fundraising sheets up around the hospital [where he works],” he said.
Mr Cawthorne said one young woman, who donated $50 to the fundraising efforts, really put the work headspace does for the community into perspective for him.
“She said to me if it weren’t for headspace, she wouldn’t be here,” he said.
“That really highlights how important the work they do is,” he said.
He said he would like to do another in the future.
Program manager at headspace, Nicki Halliwell said thanks to Peter’s generosity headspace are able to bolster their intake supports.
“Our intake officers have the important role of triaging new clients and determining what care pathway is appropriate prior to coming in for an appointment.
“They also assess clients who are at risk and ensure they are seen quickly by our staff. The intake process ensures clients receive the correct care for their needs and our resources are used appropriately.
“Peter’s donation has come at a time of high demand for our services and will benefit the young people of Bathurst immensely.”
