Despite being just 13, Besgrove will head to the New South Wales All Schools Championships where he will take on the Combined Catholic Colleges and Combined High Schools outfits.
“It was a bit unexpected being in Year Seven, there was a lot of older guys [at the trial],” Besgrove said.
Though one of the younger members of the side, Besgrove will shoulder plenty of responsibility given he has been selected as a pitcher and second baseman.
So while spots in the All Schools sides for this year’s School Sport Australia Championship are on the line at the Sydney titles, that will not be his focus.
“I just want to play my best and see how I go. It’ll be tough against the older guys,” Besgrove said.
“It’s a way to get my name out there a bit hopefully for the next few years.”
