BATHURST Regional Council has confirmed it would be interested in entering talks about taking over the historic Bathurst Ambulance Station building in William Street.

A new owner for the building is looking likely as the NSW Government gets close to making a decision on a new station for the city.
All indications have been that a greenfield site will be selected, rather than the current station being redeveloped.
“If the building should become available, council would be interested in entering into discussions with NSW Ambulance,” council general manager David Sherley said on Tuesday.
Member for Bathurst Paul Toole confirmed last week that Bathurst will get its new station before the next state election in 2019 and said he was hopeful an announcement on a site would be made in the next couple of months.
Council took over ownership of the old TAFE building in William Street from the NSW Government in June 2013.
