Nadia Cameron was many things to many people and on Tuesday the gallery of Bathurst Coroner's Court was filled by those who loved her wanting to know how her life was taken so violently.

Ms Cameron was found dead in the Kelso home of her former partner, Elie Issa, on July 16, 2015.

A prominent figure on the social circuit, Ms Cameron worked in real estate sales and enjoyed a high profile in the city.

Speaking outside the court at the end of the inquest on Tuesday, Ms Cameron’s mother Rowheya Pleming spoke of the pain of losing her daughter, saying there was so much she was still trying to understand.

“It’s hard coming up here, it’s definitely very stressful,” she said.

Ms Pleming said she had long held concerns about her daughter’s relationship with Elie Issa.

“He was so possessive. The relationship was destructive,” she said.

Mrs Pleming recalled a time when Ms Cameron ordered some furniture from Ryde and had organised a neighbour to help her unload the items when they got to her house.

Mrs Pleming said Ms Cameron told her when the truck arrived her neighbour started to help her and Mr Issa showed up, demanding to know what the man was doing with her.

Mrs Pleming said Ms Cameron used to visit her in Penrith and had spoken of a future without Mr Issa.

“She was planning to go to the UK.”

Ms Pleming said Tuesday’s inquest did little to numb the pain of losing her daughter.

“It’s just so hard, it’s very difficult to express.”

Other family members said they had gone to the inquest hoping it would help them come to terms with their loss but said they felt worse after the hearing.

“Knowing what she put up with and how her life was taken have made me feel worse,” one said.

Members of Elie Issa’s immediate family were also in the court gallery during the inquest.
