There were 24 households and businesses in William Street left without power on Wednesday morning after a vehicle collided with a pole overnight.
Essential Energy crews were dispatched to a power pole on the corner of William and Keppel streets at around 8am.
Regional Manager Northern, Mark Summers, said crews attended the scene as quickly as possible to ensure the safety of the public and their property and to assess the damage to the electricity network.
“Upon arrival, crews discovered the accident had caused damage to a crossarm which required immediate replacement,” he said.
“Crews worked as quickly as safety allowed and after making repairs power was restored to all customers at 10.55am.”
Mr Summers has advised people to contact the company immediately on 13 20 80 to report any accidents involving the electricity network and that electricity infrastructure should always be treated as alive.
“We thank customers for their patience as we worked to make repairs to the electricity network after the vehicle accident,” he said.
A brick wall was also damaged in the accident.
