However, if you want to see the stars of the future, it is Friday’s cycling festival festivities that you should watch.
The Bathurst Cycling Club will host the Family Fun Challenge, which gives kids the chance to involve themselves in the sport.
They will ride a circuit that begins at the Mount Panorama pit complex and goes through parts of the iconic track.
It will be like a miniature criterium for these youngsters, who will complete up to 10 laps of the circuit.
The president of the cycling club, Mark Simons, told Parade that these kids could one day be Australia’s next cycling superstars.
The Family Fun Challenge will begin at 3.30pm on Friday at the mountain and finish at 6pm.
Kids can compete on any type of bicycle they own.
Dark clouds are back in town
BATHURST residents have been enjoying some beautiful sunny days lately, but that is about to change.
There is heavy rain predicted for Bathurst on Thurday, with as much as 20 millimetres expected to fall over a couple of hours.
According to Weatherzone, though, some parts of the region could receive as much as 50mm.
The rain is expected to start mid-morning and get heavier throughout the afternoon, before clearing in the evening.
After the sudden spurt of rain, Bathurst will be back to sunshine on Friday.
Odd duck out
PARADE was walking through Machattie Park early Wednesday morning and saw something fascinating in the pond.
It has been a while since she’s stopped there, so she only just noticed the single white duck gliding across the water.
With so many Pacific Black Ducks living around the pond, it stuck out like a green thumb, but in the best way possible.
It looked quite stunning against the backdrop of the water.
