The Bathurst Youth Council has put a lot of effort into organising a program of events for National Youth Week.
First up on the program is YJAM on Friday night in the Australia Fossil and Mineral Museum forecourt.
YJAM is a music event that gives young local musicians the chance to get their profile out into the community.
There will be eight sets over four hours to keep people entertained, as well as a free barbecue and drinks.
The event will run from 6pm to 10pm.
Deputy youth mayor Lili Carter said it is likely to be one of the most popular events during Youth Week.
“It is so connected to the youth with the musicians we have,” she said.
On Sunday morning, young people are invited to take part in the Cityfit Youth Week Fun Run.
Cityfit will take participants through a warm up before they get to run, jog or walk alongside the river through Bicentennial Park.
The fun run starts at 10am and will conclude with a free barbecue and entertainment.
Youth Week festivities will move to Machattie Park on Tuesday when the Youth Council hosts a trivia night.
Bathurst’s Young Citizen of the Year Stephen Chapman will emcee the night and have some great questions to test everyone.
There will be free food and drinks on offer and great prizes to be won.
The trivia night will start at 4pm by the rotunda and conclude at 6pm.
On Wednesday, the Youth Council will partner with Walk-in Wednesday for a special edition of the program at the Kelso Community Hub from 3.30pm.
Thursday’s activity is a skating workshop hosted by Totem Skate School.
Young people can register for the workshop at www.totemskateboarding.com.
The final event for the week is a movie night at the Adventure Playground.
Big Hero 6 and Blended will be on the big screen from 6pm and there will be food available to purchase.
“That is just a good time for a group to come together for a picnic and joy the movies,” youth mayor Sarah Driver said.
