HE did not have the legs to contest the sprint finish in the elite men’s criterium on Saturday evening, but when it came to climbing in Sunday’s Blayney to Bathurst, Peter Livingstone provided.

Using the disappointment of being forced to withdraw from the Bathurst Criterium as motivation, Livingstone won king of the mountain honours for the B2B long course. He also placed fifth overall.
“I was extra motivated I supposed for not quite making it in the crit,” the National Road Series rider said.
“I’m not the strongest climber, I didn’t think I was anyway, but it’s an inconsistent climb. It’s a lot of steep ramps, then a climb, then it eases off again. It wasn’t a consistent pace because everyone was looking out for each other.
“There were a lot of a different attacks throughout the climb. It was whittled down to five guys and about 200 metres out I gave it a little hit and they hesitated for a second, which gave me the gap on them.”
