The Kevin Pye Medal is given to NSW Country Cricket’s leading umpire from regional areas, and Glazebrook is no stranger to winning the award.
He claimed the medal for his efforts in the 2015-16 season as well, demonstrating the high respect players give him and the standard of his officiating.
The medal was also an excellent way for Glazebrook to mark 10 years of involvement with NSW Country Cricket.
The award is a consideration of umpiring across all levels of competition, whether it be Bathurst first grade matches through to national events.
Glazebrook was once again among making the calls at some of the top-level events over the past season of cricket.
Among his list of competitions was the New South Wales and Australian Country Championships along with the NSW Country Championship final at Ourimbah.
It was only appropriate that the leading Country NSW umpire be making the calls in the state’s leading regional Twenty20 competition.
The final of the Plan B Regional Bash at the Sydney Cricket Ground wasn’t just a big day for the Western Zone’s victorious Orana Outlaws side, it was also a great moment for Glazebrook in the umpires role.
That was a step up for the Bathurst umpire, who had helped officiate the Sydney Thunder conference final of the previous season’s Regional Bash competition – a moment he stated as one of his biggest highlights from the 2015-16 season.
Glazebrook was also appointed as umpire for the representative clash between NSW Country and the touring New Zealand Canterbury A side at Bowral’s Bradman Oval back in February.
Mitchell Cricket Council president Mark Frecklington said Glazebrook’s back-to-back awards are fantastic for the region.
“It’s very to see. He’s a top class umpire,” he said.
“It’s always a nice surprise to have players from our region win these awards. It’s great for Western Zone and gives a lot of umpires out here a reminder that their work doesn’t go unnoticed.”
Frecklington is full of praise for Glazebrook, having experienced first-hand the quality of his umpiring.
“I’ve umpired with him as well. He’s always a pleasure to umpire with,” he said.
“There’s a lot of great umpires from around Western Zone and it’s a great effort for many of them to get to this level.”
