The success of the Gayna Williams trained Colour City in 2009 and Knickerbocker Kid in 1999 rate as the only Bathurst wins in the feature race.
The last two years Peter Stanley came close to adding another Bathurst win to that tally – missing out by a nose then a neck – while this Tuesday it will be Dean Mirfin (Super Pig) and Paul Theobald (Tiger’s Story) who will attempt to end the drought.
“I wish both of them every success, but they certainly face some strong competition,” Bathurst Thoroughbred Racing’s general manager Michelle Tarpenning said.
“It would be great to have a Bathurst winner, so fingers crossed for them.
“It’s an iconic day for Bathurst and the club, it’s one of the days cemented firmly in our tradition and it’s not just for the younger people.
“People really get into the spirit of ANZAC Day.”
