The city will be transformed into a winter wonderland from July 1 to 16.
This year Bathurst Regional Council is encouraging businesses and groups to hold winter themed events as part of the celebrations.
The initiative is in addition to the window display competition, which will also make a return.
Mayor Graeme Hanger OAM said the event has been embraced by the community, seeing the festival become a highly anticipated annual event.
“The event not only attracts residents, but also brings many visitors to our region, which significantly boosts the local economy, so it seems fitting that we are inviting more local businesses to get involved,” he said.
“The Winter Festival has been popular since its inception and the event’s reputation and attendance has grown each year.
“It is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to come together and make the most of the cooler weather and participate in a variety of family friendly activities.”
Businesses that participate will have their event advertised as part of the Winter Festival program of events, giving them the opportunity to capitalise on council’s extensive promotion campaign.
Events will be listed on the official Winter Festival website and promoted on the event’s Facebook page.
Any business that wants to participate will need to provide a 100 word event description, two high quality photos and pay a $50 application fee to council.
An entry form is available at www.bathurstwinterfestival.com.au under the program of events tab.
At this stage, council is remaining tight-lipped on what other attractions will feature during the two-week festival this year.
Last year, patrons were treated to ice skating across the entire festival, a giant ferris wheel, ice hockey matches, illuminations and artisan and food markets.
There was also entertainment from local musicians and Cirkus Surreal.
