He wants the sort of effort that came in the second quarter against Liverpool-Macarthur to be sustained for an entire four quarters.

“They showed what they could do in the first part of that second quarter  – they brought the crowd to their feet, it was champagne stuff. It showed what they can do when they put their mind to the job and actually listen to what they’ve been told,” Osborn said.

“We’ve got to look at playing at that level for the entire game.”

This Saturday the Goldminers host an Illawarra Hawks outfit which sits one spot behind them on the ladder, but which boasts the same four-and-two record.

To prepare for the match, Wednesday night training focused on the Goldminers’ offensive patterns. According to the coach, they had “some players who were in ga-ga land” against Liverpool-Macarthur.

“A play would be called and they would be scratching their head and saying ‘What are we doing?’,” Osborn said.

“That’s not good enough.

“If we want to make sure we keep winning, we need to be playing good basketball.”

Tip-off at the Bathurst Indoor Stadium is at 4pm.
