Among them was 13-year-old Jake Webster from Westray Stud who secured a champion ribbon for one of his southdown rams.
His friend Brad Anderson, 13, from Talkook Border Leicester Stud also had success in the ring thanks to a champion ewe ribbon for one of his flock.
Also taking part was St Stanislaus’ College Year 8 student, Bill McDonnell who was there as part of the school’s shorthorn cattle competitors.
“I’m having fun leading cows around and learning about animals,” Bill, 13, said.
The action will continue across the weekend in the top paddock at Bathurst Showground.
