A MAN who used a stolen credit card to buy McDonald’s, cigarettes, sports gear and other items has been convicted and placed on a bond after appearing before Bathurst Local Court.

Zane Mitai, whose age was recorded as being between 20 and 25 years on the NSW Police charge sheets, of Mount Street Blayney, appeared before Magistrate Michael Allen this week charged with dishonestly obtain benefit by deception.
Mitai appeared in custody via AVL.
Police facts sheets handed to the court told how on October 15 last year, Mitai used a stolen GE Go credit card to buy various items at a number of retailers in Bathurst.
Among the items purchased using the stolen credit card included meals at McDonald's Restaurant, items from Cignall Tobacco, groceries from Woolworths supermarket plus other items from News and More newsagent, Sports Co, CTC Tobacco and Sports power to the value of $611.69
The court heard Mitai used the stolen credit card more than once at some retailers including McDonald’s Restaurant, where the card was used twice, and Cignall in William Street, where it was used on three separate occasions.
On Monday, October 24, 2016 Mitai attended Blayney Police Station and and handed himself in.
He made admissions to using the stolen credit card telling police: “I did it, I made the transactions.”
He said he did not know the name on the stolen credit cards and was not given permission to use the card
Mitai was convicted and placed on a Section 9 Bond.
