Accompanied by his wife Héléne Ahlberger Le Deunff, 18-year-old son Jacob and 16-year-old daughter Louise, Mr Ahlberger attended his first Trundle ABBA Festival on Saturday.
And it was all thanks to the ABC program Landline.
Mr Ahlberger has been based in Canberra since 2014 and is ambassador to 11 countries Australia, New Zealand and nine Pacific Island nations.
Two years ago he watched Landline that featured a story on the ABBA Festival in Trundle.
It was so moving and so emotional, Mr Ahlberger said.
Whats so important to any nation is obviously its countryside, I feel very strongly about that.
I come from a country town myself, a place very similar to Trundle.
Its a community facing challenges and struggles, and I recognise it so well.
The ambassador and his family arrived in the Parkes Shire on Friday, where they were treated to a civic reception at Parkes Shire Council.
In the afternoon he travelled to visit the schools in Trundle before helping to host the music trivia at the Trundle Hotel that night.
He was taken on an arts tour of Parkes on Saturday morning and began his day with a fika the Swedish word for a social cup of coffee.
Its much more than the coffee and the cake, its about coming together, Mr Ahlberger said.
Due to a very busy schedule, its the first time Mr Ahlberger has been able to travel outside of the big cities. And he was thrilled by what he saw in Trundle.
Its such a positive, dynamic community its overwhelming, Mr Ahlberger said. Its fantastic what youre creating here.
Mr Ahlberger said hes hoping his presence at this years festival will bring something more to the event in the future.
Theres an ABBA museum in Sweden, much like an ABBA hub and they were overwhelmed this is being done here, he said.
It would be a shame if my visit didnt lead to some kind of collaboration.
