Race favourite Blackwood Farm ($3.20) claimed a comeback win at Bathurst to see off Ballerina Black ($4.60, 5.25m) and Durama Nitro ($22.20, 5.5m).
Kihael Diva led the way out of box one and had Ballerina Black quickly join her out in front.
Blackwood Farm slipped as far as two lengths off the pace in the early stages but ate into the gap coming into the turn for home.
Kihael Diva got tripped up and drifted back through the field, before Blackwood Farm slipped down the inside of Ballerina Black.
Blackwood Farm extended the gap along the home stretch to win in a time of 17.72 seconds.
“He’s been racing well here. He’s had nearly 60 starts now, won 15 of those and he’s won nearly $16,000 in prizemoney,” Young trainer Gordon Herbert said of his winner.
“My wife and I bred him. I bred the mother as well and bought the grand mother. So this is the third generation I’ve had in my ownership over 20 years.
“He’s only three and a half years old, so he’s probably got six months to another year of racing in him.”
Blackwood Farm has now won three of his last four Bathurst starts.
