Organised by the Bathurst Business Chamber, the panel will provide a chance for both businesses and consumers to ask questions in regards to the new planned internet service.
nbn was proposed by the Labor Party back in 2006 and the Bathurst region is still awaiting to be completely connected.
Bathurst Business Chamber vice president Steve Semmens said the nbn has been a long time coming.
“It’s something we’ve needed for a long time. I don’t care if it’s nbn, we need fast internet,” he said.
“From what I’ve heard about the nbn, there have been good reports. It’ll open up opportunities for businesses in rural areas to work from here, at a national and international scale.”
Mr Semmens believes Bathurst has been in need of fast internet for over 10 years and that he knows of businesses still operating on ADSL1.
He believes businesses need to be a priority when it comes to the nbn.
“People have been screaming for it for ages. I’m an old fella and I’m faster than our internet,” he said.
“One question I’ll be asking is, ‘How soon can we get it?’. It’ll make a huge difference.”
“We’re excited to hear what our panel of experts have to say and I’m excited for the nbn to get switched on so businesses can grow.”
The panel, from 6pm to 8pm, will be made up from a representative from Peak Connect, Colton Technology and the Telstra Business Centre and there will be an opportunity for questions and answers.
Entry is free but bookings are essential for catering purposes.
Bookings can be made at www.bathurstbusiness.com.au.
A nbn experience van will be on display at the Trinity Heights Shopping Centre, at Kelso, on Friday from 10am, giving residents a chance to learn more about nbn.
