ACADEMICS and staff from Western Sydney University’s (WSU) Bathurst Rural Clinical School have gathered for their final farewell to the city.

The group of 16 medical students met at Abercrombie House on Friday evening to celebrate the completion of their 12-month study placement in Bathurst.
This was the largest group to progress through the Bathurst clinical school, which has now been an integral part of the WSU School of Medicine program for the past seven years.
Joanna Keo received the Machattie Shield for best student grand rounds presenter, while Larry Lam received the Ben Chifley community engagement award.
The students now return to Sydney to complete their final six months of study before becoming junior doctors.
A WSU spokesperson said the students’ experience and knowledge could mean theyreturn to work in a town like Bathurst in the future.
