AT the first Bathurst Writers' and Readers' Festival two years ago I had a three-month-old baby so getting to sit in the Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre theatre on my first “cultural event” outing of parenthood, listening to smart people tell amazing stories, letting those ideas wash over me, was a huge gift to my baby-focused brain.

Cultural vision
THE recent draft Bathurst cultural visions document put out by Bathurst Regional Council got lots of people talking.
Alan Cattermole, director of cultural and community services at BRC, will be guest speaker at the Bathurst Arts Council AGM next week where he’ll talk about the cultural visions of council through to 2036.
Everyone is welcome to come along. The meeting will be held next Tuesday, May 30 at 5.30pm at BMEC.
Live theatre
A FEW years back, pre-parenthood, I saw and loved Patch Theatre’s delightful ‘Emily Loves to Bounce’.
A whole new generation of kids will laugh and wonder along with this show this week at BMEC.
Shows Thursday, May 25 at 6.30pm or Friday, May 26 at 10am and 12.30pm.
CSU Theatre/ Media production The Fox is a modern adaptation of Ben Jonson’s Volpone, a timeless story of human greed and wealth in the modern age.
It’s on tonight through to Saturday, May 27 at 7pm at CSU’s Ponton Theatre.
And Bathurst Theatre Company is planning a production of The Government Inspector later this year and iscalling for production team (including director) and a cast of 12.
