Parade took a look back at the community’s efforts over the last five years and was a little disappointed.
In 2012, the community managed to raise $12,000 by the first official count of the money collected.
Parade thought that was a fantastic effort compared to the years that followed, where the next highest total was $7600, reached in 2016.
Any range of factors could have contributed to the lower totals, but wouldn’t it be great if the community could raise a five-figure sum again?
One thing that could surely help is volunteering as a doorknocker.
In Parade’s eyes, the more people that are out there pushing the cause, the more opportunities there will be to raise money.

The great sauce debate
In the refrigerator or in the cupboard?
That question shouldn’t spark any controversy, but when it comes to the sauce bottle, apparently it is the stuff feuds are made of.
Parade was shopping with an old friend recently and stopped to look at fridges.
A cardboard cutout of a sauce bottle sitting in one display model prompted her friend to exclaim ‘People like that just aren’t right!’.
Parade shyly admitted, to her friend’s complete disgust, that she was one of those people who prefer to keep the sauce bottle refrigerated.
The remainder of the shopping trip was spent with Parade’s friend looking at her and shaking her head every now and again.
Unusual request
WHEN it comes to the Bathurst Winter Festival, most hoped the ice rink and ferris wheel would return, but Parade’s wish was simpler.
Not keen on stumbling across the ice, she really hoped the tent beside the ice rink would be back.
Last year it was a great place to watch the action while enjoying a coffee.
She hasn’t heard anything on this yet, but her hopes are high.
