Anderson’s superb round was made up of a fifth in race one followed by back-to-back third placings, taking him to the top of the Kumho Cup classification and third in the championship standings.
“It’s the best weekend I’ve had in the car, period,” Anderson said.
“It’s unreal. We’re all over the moon with the round.”
Despite an early hiccup things only got better for Anderson across the weekend in the championship’s second round.
“Friday’s qualifying was great for us and we didn’t want to change things up much,” he said.
“In the opening race I took a touch on the second turn which put us back down the field, but we managed to get it back to fifth. Then for us to get two thirds was amazing.
“We knew the car was going well. We had a test day a few weeks ago to make sure everything was right. Our setup was perfect and we only had to make minimal changes over the weekend.”
There was a good battle between Anderson, Josh Smith and Jordon Boys in the second race of the weekend before the Bathurst driver enjoyed a less hectic conclusion to his round in the finale.
Anderson (236 points) now holds a slim 10 point margin over Jon McCorkindale in the Kumho Cup classification.
Jack Smith leads the championship on 239 points, enjoying a break back to Boys (209) and Anderson (178).
The next round of the Australian V8 Touring Cars series will be held in July at the Coates Hire Ipswich SuperSprint event at Queensland Raceway.
