You might be surprised by some of the people who played instruments on these songs.
Equally, you’ll be amazed by some who didn’t play on those records that have been in your collection for decades, and who you’ve always thought were an integral part of the group who recorded the song.
As always on Retro Top 40, Tim will unearth quirky facts from the world of pop music, like the session musician who played on six consecutive Grammy Award Records of the Year, without ever having been a member of any of the groups involved.
That’s “Retro Top 40” with Tim Williams, this coming Saturday from 4pm-6pm on 92.3FM 2MCE.
Join Tad for the Saturday Jukebox
MEANWHILE, Tim was also the host last Saturday night for our regular “Jukebox” request program that saw 1000 requests passed for the year.
Gary Douglas of Bathurst called up on 6331-0092 with the 1000th song request of the year to date and wins a $60 gift voucher courtesy of Bathurst RSL Club.
The track Gary requested was “My Girl” from the Temptations so Gary your prize is on the way to you.
The night finished with a total of 73 requests and takes the years total to 1052 song titles as we head off towards reaching two thousand plus requests for the year. Last year saw 2781 songs requests for the twelve months, while the record was set back in 2014 with 2848 requests.
If you want to make a request phone up between 6pm and 10pm this or any Saturday night with your charting Jukebox request from the ’60s to ’80s era.
Your Jukebox host this week is Tad, so give him a call with your Jukey request.
Something for all on the radio
SPECIALISED music programs are a feature of 2MCE programming and if you enjoy folk music then Saturday and Sunday from noon to two o’clock is just what you are looking for.
The Bathurst Folk Club with regular presenters Paul Kelly, Terry Fatseas and Jock and Ann Roxborough presents a great mixture of folk tunes each Saturday while Sunday afternoons has traditionally been Come All Ye with Bruce Cameron. However, Bruce is currently taking a break, so in his absence Roger Hargraves will be filling in for a couple weeks.
Roger of course continues his music of the Celts each Sunday evening between 7pm-8pm in his program ‘The Connection’.
