The Abercrombie Radio Players will host an original radio play this Friday evening with the community invited along for the ride.
The play, ‘World War One The Unknown Cause’, is written by Bathurst actor and narrator Fred Madden, directed by John Vickery and produced by Christopher Morgan.
“It is a first-ever performance of a newly written radio play … it deals with the terrible consequences of the way many people thought of the pending war as a great adventure, which turned out to be a catastrophe for everyone involved,” Mr Morgan said.
The radio play will be read, with sound effects, by a group of actors in the Abercrombie House ballroom.
In the days before television, radio plays had a huge following and people would tune in for regular shows and serials.
“A radio play is a live performance of the reading of a script and sound effects as if it’s being broadcast,” Mr Morgan said.
“The script is really entertaining and a lot of fun.”
The one-off performance is on Friday at 7pm and tickets cost $15 (adults), $8 (concession/senior) and $5 (under 14s). Call 6331 4929 to book.
