A close friend, who works in the office, kicked smoking about a month ago and is going great guns thanks to the Quit Smoking app, which has provided much assistance along the way.
To give you a quick run down, the friend, who was averaging a pack a day of cigarettes, has saved very close to $2000 simply by not buying smokes.
With the money she would have normally spent on smokes she’s paid her bills all one month in advance (go her!).
And if that’s not enough, just one month into it she says she feeling great.
Parade will keep readers updated on her progress, and hopefully it will encourage others into action.
For those thinking about quitting, here are some quick facts which might also help you give up.
The effects of quitting start to set in immediately. Within 20 minutes after your last cigarette, your heart rate will begin to drop back toward a normal level.
In as few as 12 hours after quitting smoking, the carbon monoxide in your body decreases to lower levels. In turn, the amount of oxygen in your blood increases to normal levels.
And finally, it may not be life-threatening, but an inability to smell or taste well is one of the more obvious consequences of smoking. Once you quit smoking for 48 hours, your nerve endings will start to regrow, and your ability to smell and taste will improve.
