The regular event is held in council’s chambers and it’s the perfect opportunity for newcomers to Bathurst to meet people.
At this week’s welcome, there were people from right across Australia, and even as far away as Columbia.
They’ve moved here for a wide variety of reasons – opportunity, education, retirement and some were returning back home after years of living away.
Parade would like to send out a huge welcome to the city’s newest residents, she too was once new to Bathurst but eight years later is happy to call this beautiful city home.
It is a great city that we live in, and on days like the Welcome Wagon Parade is reminded that there is a lot of opportunity out there, you’ve just got to open your eyes.
What’s on? There is a lot to do
BATHURST you are fast running out of time to take part in this year’s Autumn Colours program.
The annual program kicked off on March 1 and has been running ever since, but it all comes to an end on May 31.
It is full of a huge range of things to keep all members of your family entertained – from markets to art, heritage and entertainment.
This weekend there are a few more tours – including one of the cemetery and a walking tour around Bathurst’s streets – but be advised to book early.
On Friday there’s an old-time radio play at Abercrombie House, and if you’ve never seen one before Parade would highly recommend it.
On Saturday, the always-popular Bathurst Farmers’ Markets are on at Bathurst Showground with a huge range of the best local produce.
Also, running from Friday until Sunday is the Bathurst Writers’ and Readers’ Festival at Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre.
There will be live talks, along with some streamed from the Sydney Writers’ Festival, and all sessions are free to attend.
