Botox has been in the headlines lately; younger women are turning to the anti-aging injection in their early 20s, with skin specialists saying it was pointless to use it so early.
Karla McDiarmid, from Macquarie Medi Spa said she suspects women in Sydney get the treatment earlier then their regional counterparts.
“Our demographic for Botox is women in their mid thirties,” she said.
Still, she said having Botox at a younger age does prevent wrinkles from forming.
“Definitely younger girls are getting it done, more so in Sydney then Bathurst,” she said.
She put this down to the influence of social media.
“Trends on social media and celebrity followings is for smooth skin, no wrinkles and pouty lips, it is definitely popular; when it comes to young women, fuller lips is the trend I am seeing most in Bathurst,” she said.
She said social media defiantly has an impact on young women, in particular stars, like Kendall and Kylie Jenner.
She said demand for Botox and fillers had increased.
“We have the nurse coming to both our Bathurst and Orange salons on a fortnightly basis,” she said. The clinics are booked out in advance.
