It’s a great opportunity for local people to show off their amateur photography skills while also competing for the first prize of a $500 shopping voucher at Harvey Norman.
We want photos of best friends – human, furry or feathered – taken within our region that show how much people love living in Bathurst.
Entrants must be Bathurst residents and must not derive their primary income from photography. A maximum of three photos is permitted per entrant and finalists will be chosen by the Western Advocate photographic staff.
From there we will throw it open to our readers to decide their favourite pic.
Entries close at 5pm on Friday, June 2 and you can submit your photos either by email to photos.westernadvocate@fairfaxmedia.com.au or online at www.westernadvocate.com.au.
Parents in a spin over discs fad
IF you have a school-aged child, chances are your house is full of multi-coloured plastic Marvel heroes super discs, courtesy of Woolworths’ latest promotion.
There's also a high likelihood, however, that your kids are chasing one of several “rare” superheroes to complete the set of 42, a phenomenon that has seen discs on eBay for up to $400 (for something that’s “free” with every $20 grocery shop).
And parents aren’t happy, particularly after “Swap Days” in stores on Saturday which left many kids with incomplete sets.
While it’s cold comfort for those still trying to find the elusive missing discs, rest assured your kids will probably be over it by next week - just in time for the next fad.
Above-average days of autumn
WINTER might be just a few days away, but Bathurst is continuing to enjoy a warmer-than-usual autumn.
Figures from the Bureau of Meteorology show the mean maximum temperate for May has been 17.6 degrees Celsius this year, more than a full degree above the long-term average of 16.3.
