Bathurst station officer Guy Dover said fire crews were initially given the wrong address, but quickly figured out where the fire was burning.
“The diligent Kelso crew realised it was in town and requested that Bathurst fire station attend as well,” he said.
He said the fire was deliberately lit and is now under investigation by the police.
“It was deliberately lit - severe fire damage to the entrance and floor,” he said.
“An accelerant was used so it burned pretty quick and did a lot of damage.”
After the fire was out, Op Shop volunteers arrived to begin the process of clearing the building of damaged items.
Anyone with any information on the fire should contact Bathurst Police on 6332 8699.
