Beyond Belief: the Sublime in Contemporary Art came to the gallery at the end of March and will finish its run on Sunday.
Education and public programs officer Emma Hill said anyone who hasn’t seen it yet should make the time as it has been received very well by patrons.
“The comments book is very full and visitors seem to really be enjoying the exhibition,” she said.
The gallery’s guest book includes feedback such as “Wow, just wow” and “Surreal, disturbing and fascinating in equal measure”.
The current exhibition will be replaced by a suite of four exhibitions, which will be available from June 9.
One of these is Soft Core, a touring exhibition from Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre, Sydney, which investigates the many facets of ‘softness’.
“We also have three exhibitions from artists who have recently visited Hill End as part of our Hill End Artists in Residence program; Todd Fuller: Icarus of the Hill, Rachel Milne: After Olley and Jo Davenport: Mapping Hill End,” Ms Hill said.
“Each of these exhibitions showcases the diversity and quality of art work that is coming out of the residency program.”
The suite was chosen to appear at the gallery as together the exhibitions offer a board range of experiences and cater to as many interests as possible.
Ms Hill said all of the exhibitions are interesting and shouldn’t be missed.
“Soft Core features existing and newly commissioned works from 12 Australian and International artists, including a three-metre tall inflatable bunny called Cosmo,” she said.
“The three exhibitions about Hill End offer three very different perspectives and styles, from animation to drawing and abstract painting to lush oil paintings.”
A formal exhibition opening will be held on June 9 from 6pm.
People need to RSVP for the opening by Friday, June 2, by phoning BRAG on 6333 6555.
It will be preceded by a floor talk with Micheal Do, the curator of Soft Core, at 5pm.
