Mariners are on the right path after an encouraging performance in their 2-0 loss to APIA Leichhardt Tigers, according to coach Jason Payne.
“Last week our defence was a lot better. I’m hoping we bring the same level of intensity to this game,” he said.
“We also created a lot of chances but the crossbar saved them on a lot of occasions. Our defensive work made it very difficult for them to have any chances.”
Payne said little can be read into the previous 1-0 defeat to the Raiders.
“It was a little unfortunate because we weren’t at full strength and we played them in the match that was interrupted by the storm that swept through Bathurst. We then came back out after it was over and couldn’t get ourselves back into the game,” he said.
The match at Prcotor Park kicks off from 3pm.
