Mr Zopf has been watching the weather map for weeks, and the lure of Friday morning’s perfect weather conditions (minus four degrees) was all he needed to set up the snow gun and see how much snow he could make.
He set his alarm for 3am, and with the temperature -4.2 degrees, he was set and a couple of hours later his snow machine had created a 15cm thick covering of pure white snow.
Students at Stannies couldn’t believe their luck when they got off the bus, and a snowball fight quickly ensued.
“Everybody loves snow,” Mr Zopf said.
“The conditions were right to make it, so in the spirit of the winter festival, I decided to do it.”
“The kids had a great time here this morning,” he said.
He said he would love to set up more machines, and create some snow cover on a slope, so people could toboggan.
