Starting as favourite, Hide The Kitty ($2.70) got to the lead after the opening turn in Monday’s Buck Fever @ Stud Maiden (450 metres) and never looked troubled in her first outing.
Cyndari Springs veered right from box one and was lucky not to take several runners out of the hunt.
Hide The Kitty got out strongly from box three and survived a bump from Total Rambler to get out to the head of the field.
From there the favourite extended her lead as the rest of the field battled for the minor placings.
In a class of her own, Hide The Kitty won by 5.25m in a time of 26.29 seconds.
Secret Glow ($8.90) managed to hold onto second spot throughout the running while Tricky Excite ($6.90) won the battle for third.
Winning trainer Rodney McDonald sees a lot of potential in the Take The Kitty x Dana Moo bitch.
“I bred her. The two boys who own her, Brian [Moss] and Bernie [Hewitt], used to have dogs with me before. They had some prizemoney saved up from that and bought her,” he said.
“I think she’ll go through her grades well here. Hopefully she can make it to the big time. Ever since the day we broke her in she’s been going very good.
“She’s a good beginner. As she gets older and gets a bit stronger we might get her out to the 520m. That’s where the money is.”
Prior to Monday’s race Hide The Kitty had produced a second and a first from her two trials.
