The annual fundraiser, which was held for the fourth time this year, raised $7500 for Brain Tumour Alliance Australia and Brainstorm (a collaboration between Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and the University of Sydney. dedicated to supporting brain tumour research at RPA).
Melissa Johnson, who was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2000, developed the event because she felt there was not enough awareness about brain cancer.
Her friend Erin Clary, who helped Ms Johnson in the lead-up to the dinner and on the night by selling raffle tickets, said it was a successful evening.
“Melissa had a lot of support from family, friends and members of the community, both in Bathurst and the brain cancer community, to make her 2017 Mel’s Go Grey in May dinner a success,” she said.
“There were many wonderful prizes generously donated that were auctioned, raffled or given away as lucky door prizes on the night.
“Heartfelt thanks to the businesses and individuals that donated to Mel’s night.
“Rydges was a fabulous location and the room looked stunning thanks to Post Designs.”
